“Psychedelics saved my life! In addition to psychedelics, I’m passionate about animal rights. Shoutout to Layla and Tank.”
Toni Johnson
Hello world! I’m Toni, originally from Kissimmee, Florida. I’m a working professional currently residing in the Atlanta area with my two furry kids, Layla and Tank.
I’ll let you all in on a secret…I don’t have it all figured out, lol. I started out as a little depressed kid and turned into a severely depressed adult. I made a bunch of not so great and often, horrible decisions, just trying to feel something besides anger or sadness. I would eventually discover that I suffered from Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). For the record…I wasn’t anything like Taraji’s character from Tyler Perry’s Acrimony (still trying to figure out how she got on the boat), but I could definitely relate to the intensity of the symptoms her character portrayed.
I was fortunate to be in a position to get the mental health care that I needed but it was an uphill battle. I was overly sensitive and easily agitated or angered. I just didn’t know how to be different. Counseling, medications and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) skills kept me stable but at no point did I feel peaceful or happy.
A little over a year ago my best friend came to me and said that she had an experience that changed her life. She tried to explain it to me the best way she could, but if you’ve had your own experience you know…there are no words. What pulled me in was the way she talked about the emotional release she felt; The letting go of years of hurt and trauma, the feeling of knowing that she was where and who she was supposed to be…truly knowing that she was loved. I’d never felt any of those things and I wanted that. You can watch their experience here.
About 2 months later I would get my opportunity to sit with Bufo and experience healing, peace, love, and happiness for the first time. The medicine showed me that I had been trying to fill a space that was never empty to begin with. I just needed help to see my true self. I was always a part of a universal love and was able to feel self-love because, for the first time, I could accept that I was worthy of it. My wish is for everyone to know their inner being and their connection to all that is. I believe it’s this level of love and understanding that most people are seeking. They just don’t realize it or know how to realize it. The medicine offers us a path.
I still don’t have everything figured out, but the medicine did light the way for Melanated Consciousness. I am passionate about providing the BIPOC community with a safe place to heal. By continuing to learn, share, and grow, I will do my part to shine light on the most precious gift
we have to give...Love. Let the healing begin within our community and let love guide us to all that need it. ~~~Ashe
