What is San Pedro?
The use of San Pedro as a tool for enlightenment and spiritual growth among Westerners has surged in recent years (alongside other psychedelics) due to its ability to open the subconscious “like a flower.” Some people are more susceptible to its effects, but a San Pedro ceremony is generally an inward journey that elicits deep insights into the self and the universe. According to the Western San Pedro practitioner Lesley Myburgh, the cactus “helps us to heal, to grow, to learn and awaken, and assists us in reaching higher states of consciousness.”
The new perspectives that San Pedro brings can often feel otherworldly to users. “Out-of-body journeys” are common with mescaline, often taking people to real-world locations; others experience a sense of induction into a “wider, mysterious, but very real [other] world that had been there all along.”
San Pedro can also be helpful for strengthening interpersonal bonds or patching up family relations. As an empathogenic, mescaline instills a “sense of universal understanding, a connection with other people, and the ability to come together and work out problems”—even problems that are usually suppressed. Many people gain a newfound emotional fluency and ability to express their own emotions, as well as identify the struggles of others. This sense of unity tends to define the San Pedro experience—unity with oneself, with other people and the natural world, and with all of existence at large.

What is DMT?
Many people report that DMT gives them a connection to their subconscious, allowing them to see any issues and mental blocks they’ve been experiencing from a new vantage point. People often report a sense of detachment from their emotions and how they identify with them as well.
While jarring, the dissolution of ego and “self” is often reported to be one of the most powerful personal insights people experience during a DMT trip. The idea that “you” are not who you think you are is difficult to grasp for many, especially in Western society where the individual is held up as the paragon of modern civilization. A trip that includes the dissolution of one’s identity, sometimes dubbed “ego death,” brings this radical new perspective to the user. Major shifts in perspective like this are often thought to be the initial catalysts for subsequent spiritual and personal growth.

Toad Medicine in Atlanta
Dates : Available Upon Request
Date: October 1, 2022
Melanated Consciousness partners with trained BIPOC facilitators to host toad medicine ceremonies for BIPOC folx. Ceremonies take place in Atlanta, Georgia and Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. Inquire to learn more about upcoming retreats and ceremonies.
How is the toad medicine consumed?
All ceremonies with toad medicine are individual and usually last somewhere between 15 to 30 minutes. During this time the facilitators and/or assistants will be present with you. When it is your turn, you will sit on the mat. The facilitator will hold the pipe with the medicine in front of your mouth so you only have to inhale the vapor. Inhale slowly, long and deep. You may be encouraged to breath in more of the vapor. Try to keep the smoke inside your lungs for as long as possible. This will help the medicine to enter your bloodstream. The medicine will start to work within 10 seconds. Don’t fight it, just relax and let the feeling wash over you. During your ceremony, there will always be someone available to assist during your journey.
What can you expect to happen?

Meet the Facilitator
Kijana is a spiritual guide, psychic channel, master teacher, public speaker, and medicine woman. She began her spiritual journey as a child, never speaking of her gifts as she had assumed that everyone had the same experiences. Kijana has been communing with the spirit world, consciously, since she was a teenager.
In 2010, she left the corporate world and became a professional development coach, facilitating close to 100 proprietary workshops for government agencies, nonprofit and spiritual organizations.
In 2013, her life began to change as she was redirected to delve deeper into spirituality and hone her skills. She took time to focus on her healing to be a better guide to others.
In 2016, Kijana decided to experience entheogens. It was in her first Ayahuasca journey that she began channeling. A couple of months later, during her experience with psilocybin, her guides, the Council of 12 introduced themselves to her.
Kijana was reignited as a medicine woman in 2017. She is a healing conduit for several sacred medicines, a kambo/sapo practitioner as well as a channel of many beings, with her primary guides being the Council of 12. Safety, honor, and healing are her priority at all times.
She hosts a variety of events, retreats, and private sessions for those seeking healing. She can be reached at Kijana Unplugged. Get to know her better by watching her YouTube channel.
